TECHO returns to Georgia
PRAGUE, 2nd September 2008 – Commercial interiors company TECHO has decided to continue its activities in Georgia, where in June 2008 it established a branch TECHO GEORGIA Ltd. The company would also like to open a small production facility there.
On Tuesday 2nd September a small team of TECHO employees will fly to Georgia. “We are only sending a small team because the current stage of the order for Bank of Georgia was almost finished before the evacuation and only a small team is now needed for completion. The team includes Czechs and Ukrainians,” stated Jan Petrák, Director for Strategic Development at TECHO.
Completion work on the current phase of the order for the largest Georgian retail bank starts on Wednesday the 3rd September. Commercial work on other phases and with respect to other customers never ceased and continued even when the project team was evacuated. The priority of the company is now to deliver the orders of existing clients and continue to seek further orders in Georgia.
TECHO has now worked across most of Georgia from its Western boarder to the Black Sea and the capital Tbilisi in the east of the country. “All current and potential clients have experienced losses due to the as yet unresolved conflict, but luckily this loss is just financial. Tbilisi itself, with the exception of military sites and the airport, was not targeted and therefore our offices are also undamaged” added Jan Petrák.
In Georgia the company is still considering the option of opening a production facility. In the current circumstances it is unlikely that TECHO will invest in a large-scale factory, but a small assembly unit is not excluded. In the same way small assembly units may also be established in Ukraine and Romania.
The opening of the branch in Georgia is part of the long-term strategy of TECHO to enter new markets in Central and Eastern Europe where expansion is always linked to having existing clients in the target market. The sales of TECHO GEORGIA Ltd. should reach 100 million crowns within two years.
