TECHO establishes a presence in Austria and Croatia
PRAGUE, 11th September 2008 – interiors furnishing company TECHO has established two new branches; one in Central Europe and one in South-eastern Europe. The first customer of both TECHO GmbH and TECHO Adria d.o.o. is the large Austrian banking group, Erste Group.
The branch in Austria has opened in an extremely competitive market, as did TECHO’s branch in Great Britain a number of years ago. TECHO has been drawn to Austria by Erste Group, with which it signed an exclusive agreement last year and is the bank’s general supplier. So far TECHO has furnished 20 of Erste’s Austrian branches and several hundred more annually elsewhere in Europe. Another important customer is the Austrian company VAMED, for which TECHO has been supplying furnishings for hospitals in Africa. The Austrian branch of TECHO is well managed by the regional director Rastislav Pekárik, who is also responsible for TECHO in Slovakia and Hungary.
In the countries of the former Yugoslavia, where TECHO also recently established a presence, the largest competitors are Italian and Austrian producers. At the current time TECHO Adria is working on a project for the reconstruction of Kosovo international airport in Pristina and in the future it will concentrate on other important international customers such as Procter & Gamble, ČEZ and Erste Group. TECHO recently completed the furnishing of Erste’s headquarters in Zagreb (total 800 workstations). A major advantage of TECHO Adria in Zagreb is that in Croatia all our current and potential customers have their headquarters in the capital city. „TECHO Adria is not focussed just on Croatia but is active across the region of the former Yugoslavia. On the basis of whether we are able to win orders from other important customers over the next year we will decide whether to open a showroom with display furniture in this country,“ stated Ondřej Vanko, director of TECHO Adria. TECHO can see a large potential in the region of Southern Europe including Serbia.
Expansion into foreign markets alongside key customers is part of the long-term strategy of TECHO. The impulse for establishing the two new branches was also linked to our cooperation with the Austrian banking group Erste Group. „Austria and Croatia have long been within our region of interest. Erste just made us speed up our entry into these markets,“ said TECHO Strategic Development Manager Jan Petrák. TECHO will work to secure additional important customers in these markets.
