TECHO wins Zlatý středník for best company catalogue 2009

PRAGUE, 13th May 2010 – Interior furnishing company TECHO won first prize in the national competition for company publications Zlatý středník. In the category Best Company Catalogue the prize went to its large format magazine TECHO News. The prize was received on Thursday evening at the Prague Archa Theatre by Jiří Kejval, CEO of TECHO and Milan Jaroš, responsible for the magazine layout.

„We had been playing around with the idea of producing a non-standard format catalogue for some time, but the actual work started in the autumn of 2008. Over a period of a few months the first edition of the TECHO News magazine was put together,“ explained Jiří Kejval, who first came up with the idea. He added „We thrive on change and continually work to develop and increase the standard of our goods and services – preferably in a way that sets us apart from the competition. In this case our magazine is special because of its size and the scope of its content.“

The English language catalogue TECHO News will be published once a year and each year will focus on a theme close to TECHO. Individual contributions in the catalogue fade into one another, with product presentations leading to references and then onto interviews with interesting people. This gives readers the impression of a coherent “story”. 

„TECHO News is unique not just because of its format but also the entire concept, which combines the product catalogues of TECHO and also gives readers the opportunity through articles on art and interviews to learn things that seem not directly connected with the presented products. It is a soft and entertaining form of company presentation,“ says Milan Jaroš, who was responsible for the graphic design of the magazine.

The target groups for the periodical are architects, developers, customers – current and potential, as well as all those interested in TECHO, teachers, students of architecture and design, and artists etc. The first edition of the magazine TECHO News was published in March last year with a print run of 3000 copies. The main theme was architecture, design and art.

Zlatý středník competition
The competition, now in its eighth year, is open to company brochures and catalogues that present a company or products and services to customers, business partners or employees. The competition is organised by PR Klub, o. s. and prizes are awarded in 10 categories. The entered publications are assessed by a five-member jury of independent experts.
