TECHO is one of the partners of the Jiří Pelcl exhibition in Brighton

A few days ago in Brighton on the South Coast of England the largest exhibition so far of the work of important Czech designer Jiří Pelcl was opened.
The exhibition offers a retrospective of the designer’s work over the past fifteen years. The galley space has been divided into three sections devoted to different areas of activity of Jiří Pelcl. The section VISIONS includes furniture items and original artefacts, the REALITY section contains mass produced products designed by Jiří Pelcl from various producers. The section FUTURE presents the work of his graduates from the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague. A catalogue has been produced for the exhibition. The initiator of the exhibition was influential British design expert Jonathan Woodham, whose work is published mainly by Oxford University Press. He also participated in the curatorship of the exhibition along with Sylva Petrova, who works at Sunderland University. Part of the exhibition will be an international symposium CZECH DESIGN: INDEPENDENT, FREE AND DEMOCRATIC?, which will be addressed by David Crowley, Iva Janáková, Yuri Kermik, Dagmar Koudelková, Martina Pachmanová, Jiří Pelcl, Sylva Petrová and Jonathan Woodham. The symposium will take place on 20 January 2012 at the Art Faculty in Brighton.

TECHO is represented at the exhibition by the ALVA COLLECTION products in the REALITY section. Professor Jiří Pelcl has worked with TECHO for many years and designed the accessory product range, the ALVA COLLECTION. These products are intended for offices, shops, hotels, transit and presentation areas.

The exhibition is being held at the University of Brighton Gallery from 7 January to 20 February 2012. Jiří Pelcl also has work present in a large retrospective exhibition POSTMODERNISM: STYLE & SUBVERSION 1970–1990, at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London (24. 9. 2011 - 15. 1. 2012).
