New production hall will open soon at TECHO

PRAGUE, 28 July 2009 – On 1 August 2009, TECHO will bring into operation a new hall for wood production. It will primarily be used for the production of standardised bank and client counters.

„This investment was a response, in particular, to the significant growth in the market for bank and client service counters. In the current demanding situation it gives us a competitive advantage in flexibility and the ability to respond continually to market requirements,“ stated Jiří Kejval, Managing Director of TECHO, a.s.

Commencement of full operation is planned for August this year. TECHO will devote the new hall to completely new production methods using sandwich boards with an aluminium honeycomb core.

Jiří Kejval added: „The advantage of this technology is significantly improved properties of the boards, such as strength and lightness. At the same time the result is more environmentally friendly. In the future the use of these sandwich boards could mark a revolution in the furniture industry.“

Although the workers for the new hall will be drawn mainly from the existing workforce, TECHO is looking to recruit a few new employees. „For wood production we would like to recruit qualified joiners for this specialised production workshop. Paradoxically in these times of growing unemployment, it is difficult to find the right people to fill such positions. In total over a hundred people work in production at TECHO. Around a third of these will work in the new production hall, which has a floor space of almost 1500 m²,“ stated Jan Duras, Operations Manager at TECHO.

The new space will provide the company with greater productivity and production flexibility. An important benefit for TECHO will also be reduced energy consumption and lower emissions. Operation of the new hall is much more environmentally friendly, which is one of the main objectives of the company.
