NĚMEČEK Jan
Born on 13 November 1963 in the Czech Republic. He studied at the “Shaping Utility Items” studio of Professor Hanák and Doctor Appl from 1985 to 1989 and at Bořek Šípek’s Studio of Architecture and Design at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague from 1990 to 1991. He was Professor Bořek Šípek’s assistant from 1992 to 1995. In 1999, together with M. Froněk, he became the head of the Product Design Studio at the AAAD. He is also one of the co-founders of the “Olgoj Chorchoj” Group (1990). In 1993, he founded “Ateliér”, s.r.o. that produces modern Czech designs as well as replicas of 20th century Czech designs. He lives and works in Prague.
FRONĚK Michal
Born on 8 January 1966, Czech Republic Graduated from the studio “Shaping Utility Items” (1988-1990) under the leadership of doc. Appl and graduated in architecture and design under the leadership of prof. Bořek Šípek (1990-1994) from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design, Prague. Since 1999 he has been working with Jan Němeček as the head of the “Products Design” studio at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design. He is one of the founding members of the “Olgoj Chorchoj“ designer group (1990). In 1993 he founded the “Ateliér“ s.r.o. company, which produces modern Czech design and replicas of the 20th century Czech design. He lives and works in Prague.
Olgoj Chorchoj
A prestigious Czech design studio founded by Michal Froněk and Jan Němeček in 1990. The studio specializes in architecture, interior and furniture, utility objects as well as jewellery design.
